This is the story of Chip…

… a 12 year old border collie mutt who decided to race a car, and lost, and his family who is working hard to adapt to his new three legged lifestyle.  First, an  explanation of the blog title is in order…. As my son and I braced for the our first meeting with Chip after the amputation of his right hind leg, we discussed how his life heading forward would be different than it was before his accident.  Chip, who has accumulated many affectionate nicknames through the years (including but not limited to “chipster”, “chippie”, and “buddy”) earned himself a new one during our conversation.  I said to my son, in what I thought was quite an inspirational speach, “Chip will be a new version of himself going forward,  kind of like a version 2.0 “, and my son, who we will call JAR3 (an explanation of which will also come, but later) said to me with true wisdom, “It would be far more accurate to refer to him as Chip version .75 because of his reduction from 4 limbs to 3. ” Thus begins the story of Chip version .75.
